Dr. Harold Bafitis graduated with Honors from the University of Maryland, College Park.  He obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health, Houston Health Science Center in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Bafitis earned his medical degree Cum Laude from the University of North Texas, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Bafitis then went on to complete a full 5 year general surgery residency at Grandview Medical Center, in Dayton, Ohio, an affiliate of Ohio University’s prestigious medical school.  To further his expertise, he completed a 2 year fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Plastic Surgery Institute and affiliated hospitals in Des Moines, Iowa.

As a double board-certified surgeon in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Bafitis holds the prestigious title of Fellow (FACOS) in the College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is the first Osteopathic plastic surgeon to also earn the title FACS, signifying membership in the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Bafitis’s contributions to plastic surgery have earned him numerous accolades. In 1994, he was appointed to the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, where he took on a role to uphold and enforce high national standards for testing and certifying plastic surgeons. He was later elected as one of the youngest chairmen for the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, enhancing his role as a leader in the field.

Dr. Bafitis is deeply committed to giving back, frequently participating in medical missions to South America and Southeast Asia, providing free reconstructive surgery for those in need. He also educates the public and professionals alike, having appeared on national news networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX.

Currently, Dr. Bafitis serves on the Residency Evaluation and Standards Committee of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons in Washington, D.C., setting the standards for residency training in plastic surgery across the country. As a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, he has trained students, residents, and fellow physicians for over 20 years.

Dr. Bafitis has contributed to advancements in plastic surgery, developing a refined technique that integrates liposculpture and abdominoplasty with minimal anesthesia and recovery time. He also created custom instruments for this procedure, sharing his research with peers at national conferences.
In West Palm Beach, Dr. Bafitis hosts scientific programs where he conducts live surgery demonstrations at his state-of-the-art surgical center. Here, medical professionals earn continuing education credits by learning from Dr. Bafitis’s expertise in cutting-edge procedures like fractional dot laser resurfacing and jet lavage liposculpture.
With over 21 years in practice, Dr. Bafitis has led mission trips around the world, treating underserved communities in Bolivia, Peru, and Cambodia. He takes pride not only in his own family but also in his extended family of highly-trained and compassionate office staff, who play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care at Bafitis Plastic Surgery.
